Modeling an Eames Plywood Lounge Chair with Blender

The skills required to create 3d models of furniture are a little different than those used to build architectural elements. With furniture modeling you will get yourself using tools and techniques that resemble organic modeling, and not the geometric based modeling used to create 3d buildings. If you want to create in 3d a famous chair like the Eames Plywood Lounge Chair, I just found out a nice tutorial created by an artist called Julio Pires. You will find the tutorial on the video below, and unfortunately there is no sound whatsoever on the video, just a low noise with some mouse clicks on the background. Another downside of the tutorial is that we can`t follow the shortcuts used by the artist.

But, even with those small problems the tutorial is still good and can be helpful for those willing to improve your skills on furniture modeling. The reference image used by the artists can be downloaded from this address.
